Microsoft has just announced the presence of its new operating system called Windows 10 S a few months ago. It is a new iteration of desktop OS whose main purpose is to compete with Google’s Chrome OS as a lighter OS.

If you do not already know the difference between the OS and Windows 10 Pro, on Windows OS 10 S users can only install apps and games available in the Windows Store, in other words if you have an app with .exe extension will not be able to install it in Windows 10 S If Microsoft previously did not allow Windows 10 S users to downgrade to Windows 10 Pro, then now it can be done.

Microsoft has just released Surface Laptop, its first notebook that comes with Windows OS 10 S right out of the box. This company allows all Surface Laptop owners to upgrade from Windows 10 S to Windows 10 Pro for free until the end of this year. After this deadline passes, Surface Laptop owners can still upgrade, but then have to pay a fee of $ 49 or equivalent to Rp650 thousand for the upgrade.

Microsoft also said initially that after Windows 10 S users upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, they will not be able to downgrade Windows to a lighter OS. But the company has changed its current position and let users to downgrade.

Microsoft has released an official Windows 10 S recovery image that is now available from Microsoft support pages. Users can download it from there by entering their device serial number. For its own size, the image recovery is 9GB. Users can use this image to downgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 S. However, they must keep in mind that it will erase all the data that is on their Laptop Surface.
